That's right guys and gals!!

 

Well.. actually it was like April 4th, but anyway, the month of April marks the 1 year anniversary of TV Tomers being alive. Granted it has slowed some over the year, but still it has been a great success. People still come in to chat and see what's going on as well as keep up with old friends. Many friendships have begun here and we have all kind of become a family.

 

The history... TV Tomers was formed when a small group of us who had met on the old TV Tome began a Cruise RPG for YGO and decided to take it to our own forum. Not long after it was up and running came the announcement that TV Tome had been sold *tear*. AFG and I agreed to invite our friends from the Tome to come over and within a week we jumped from 5 members to almost 60. To date we have 74 active members, 1,001 total topics, 67,625 total posts, 4 global mods, and 17 moderators on our staff who do an awesome job at helping my Co-Admin and myself to keep this forum a place people want to hang out in and meet others in.

 

There are boards for anime, General TV, movies, books, music, fanfiction, graphics, and general chit chat amoung the members. It is something I am glad I was convinced to do. AFG, I have to thank you for being my "Code Queen" Without you I don't know how the site would look at all LOL!

 

I know I for one am hoping it continues to be a fun place even with the slow down. There are still things that can be done in time of course.

This month the spotlight is shining on xnerdgrl.  Sorry it was a couple days late getting up on the site.  I had completely forgotten we had gone into another month.  Hope you enjoy your shining glory though ^_^

 

Still using the same banner.... Didn't really have any real ideas for a new one though that might change in the next couple of days I am not exactly sure.  Depends on what I come up with.

Yes, you will notice that there was extreme amount of graphics dumped onto the site today.  I still have a ton more to get up there actually.  Call it trying to clean out my comp.  I had to get them all saved over to photobucket and then posted.  I have collected so many that I just didn't have teh time to get them out.  So I sat down today and took a couple of hours to get them up like they should have been.

 

I may be doing the same thing tomorrow while I have a little extra time.  Not much , but I do have a little spare time coming up.  Hopefully I will have a few up that will strike a few of you.  If not leave me a PM or something so I know what fandoms to be looking under so we can have more to suit what you are looking for.

 

For now you may have noticed that the contests have been cleared.  I just don't have the time or mindset to come up with new ideas.  If there is another member who would like to submit ideas to be used, please feel free to say something.  As far as graphics are concerned:  If you would like to create a banner for the site, please feel free to and PM it to me.  We are always glad to showcase the work of our members.  The banners will be changing every month.  So that will give you an idea of what we are looking for.  Preferrably using the same size as the banner already displayed on the site.

 

We are also still collecting names for members wishing to be Spotlighted  We have enough to take us to June this year, but there is always room for others who are interested.  Just PM me to let me know.

You may have noticed a very tiny change to the name.  VERY tiny.  We decided to go with just plain TV Tomers for the forum.  It is a name we have always called it anyway so there is not that much to change.  The forum is still the same old place with the smae people, friends, groups, and themes.  The new site banners will go up sometime in the next couple days as I get them all updated with the shortened name.

 

March's spotlighted member is Flamesword47 and he is already well underway in the questions giving him.  He has been looking forward to this so everyone can hit him with their best shot.  Try to stump him or shock him speechless lol- just have fun and keep it clean as always lol.

 

Mirage Vision has joined the staff as teh new mod for the Non-fiction and Fanfiction boards.  During this past week, she has shone her dedication to the tasks of a moderator by checking into some issues with a member and a couple of fanfictions that had been posted.  So welcome MV to the staff of TV Tomers.

 

As an add on.  This has been covered on the site, but I feel the need to post it here as well.  Plagerism is a serious crime.  A federal offense and can bring a great deal of trouble to one or more people.  It is also not fair to claim a piece of work as your own when it is very clearly not.  The 2 fics that had been posted were varified as anothers' works and were pulled down.  The authors to both fic were notified that there was a person out there stealing their work and to be on the look out.  I gave my word that the fics were taken done and would remain down and the member that posted them was banned immediately. 

 

We happen to enjoy this forum a great deal and the last thing we need is someone coming in to destroy it.  We won't tolerate things like that.  It is a long standing rule that if you are posting a piece that isn't yours the name of the creator and the link to the original is to be posted.  If possible written permission from the original author/artist is great and handy to have as well just to prove you had permission- but we mostly just require the name and original link of the original creator.

 

There are no more warnings for this kind of problem.  If you are caught claiming something for your own when it isn't you will be banned.  No if's, and's or but's about it.

Not a whole lot to give notice for except by now you have noticed that a Debate Board has been added to the site.  We are hoping to bring out some new discussions and bring a little more life to the site.  We tried contests and the topics had been a bit too broad. 

 

So speaking of which- if anyone has any ideas for topics to write about feel free to PM AFG or myself so we can get something more to your interest. 

 

Icons-  They now have their own board on the site as well.  There are so many icon creators out there that in order to give them the proper credit we found it a better idea to just give them each their own thread in the Icon board for their creations.  More will be added later on in the month as I get them reorganized and uploaded to my hosting site.  With more than 400 at my disposal at the moment that will take quite a bit of time, and since I am the only one who has them, I am the only one to add them lol.  Otherwise I would be grateful for the help.  I do ask that from now on should any of the members find icons they would like to share with the site to PM them to me first with the name of the creator.  If you don't have the creator's name we will not use them.  This is just out of respect for the creator.  Now if you use them specifically for your own use what you do is up to you but if you intend to share them we MUST have the name of the creator.

 

Also, if you intend to use the offered icons anywhere else- be sure you do not HOTLINK any of them.  Save them to YOUR OWN comp and then upload them to your own hosting site such as Photobucket or Imageshack.  Also be sure to give the proper credit.  These people spend a lot of time of their work and it is just respectful that we honor that time spent.

 

February's Spotlighted Member is Invincible Moon.  He has been with us for a while now and is ready for your questions so feel free to stop in and tease his brain for a little while.

 

No votes have been made in the writing contests.  Only 1 was made in the graphic contest. With the voting deadline past and so little interest I doubt a winner will be announced unless people really want to know.  I can extend voting for a few more days if needed.  Otherwise it has become a little on the pointless side.

 

I guess that is all to be said for now.  Remember, anyone with an MSN Space or website they would like to advertise here can leave a comment and let AFG and me know.  We will add it with the next update.

Congratulations to ASJ for winning this months Fanfiction contest by default.  No one entered anything in that contest except for her.

 

There are 2 entries in the graphic contest

Wolfbane2 and GDG  So that one will need a vote to choose.

 

There are 3 entries in the Original fiction.  Wolfbane2, Rollo, and Lia.  That one will also need a vote to determine who places where. 

 

Remember choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place pieces when you vote.  Voting ends Feb 1st.  Thanks for your participation...

 

As an update- After the last hacking  done to Marik360's account I received an email from him saying it was no longer worth it to keep rereistering only to have the hacker find him again and delete him.  He says a sad good bye.

This is just a reminder that the contests for Januray are still open.  Again we have not really received many entries.  None for the banner one and I believe 2 for the original fiction contests...  I am rethinking how to work the contests...  Instead of making them monthly, perhaps making them bi-monthly.

 

With that said the contests changes as stated.

 

The writing and banner contests are going to be holding a more romantic tone.  Yup that is right.  It iw going to be fitting with the Valentine's theme of February.  The 2 in the Original fiction contest will still be counted so they will have a chance even though they are fitting the original New Year theme of January.   The entry due date will be January 28th.  Voting will begin the next day on the 29th and run for the next week.

 

Everything else about the contests will remain the same as far as requirements on banner sizes and length of the fictions. 

 

To the people who have already posted entries- to be fair you can enter a second entry fitting the new theme.  Both that entry and the one for January's contest can and will be judged in the same contest. 

 

The banner one- Just have to have something .. I don't know- romantic looking on it maybe?  It doesn't have to have Happy Valentine's Day on it but we would like to have one for that particular Day if anyone wishes to make one on the side. 

 

I think that covers the change made to the contests.

This is late going up here in the space, but I thought a more official announcement needed to be posted here in regards to our new Global Mods.

 

It was a very long and hard decision.  There are so many people that are worthy of the spot, but in the end we went with Thriller Girl and DiZ.  Both have shown that they can handle large tasks and can be counted on.  They kept their cool when things were getting warm and though they like to have fun- they try to keep it within the scope of the rules. 

 

Like I said- many follow these same guidelines, which is why it was so hard.  Either way... 

 

Congratulations to Thriller and DiZ.  Just let us know if you need anything or have any questions.

 

The contest is underway.  There are 10 more days until the dead line to have all contest entries in.  So far that is only one entry in the Original Fiction contest.  Hopefully we can see a little more as the dead line approaches.

 

I have received several PM's in regards to mod positions...  Mod positions as well as any other position are filled and we are not looking for replacements at this time.  Everyone on the staff is capable of maintaining their position and keeping order with it.  Should a position open up then an announcement will be posted.  however, there is none at this time.  Thank you.

Yes we are very happy to announce that Blue has returned to us ^_^.  As promised during her absence, she has been restored to the staff and has rejoined CM as mod over the general anime board.  Welcome back Blue!!  We have missed you!

 

As mentioned on the site- AFG, DR, RT, and I have made our decision on the 2 Global Mods we were looking for.  It was a long and hard decision to make as there are several who are very good candidates for the position. 

 

Th 2 have been contacted and they have agreed to accept the position. 

 

This announcement will be elaborated on more on January 1st.  No one is to ask who the new GM's are- the answer will not be given till my announcement on the 1st.  I hope everyone will be kind about this and I hope not to have my inbox flooded with "why not me" PM's.  Like I said- the deicision was tough as there are o many worthy people...

 

The Spotlighted Member for January will be announced today as I may be just a bit too busy tonight with company being over to get it later.  So Chilly will have to share one day as Spotlight Member lol.

Yes- the new contest was announced this morning.  For the writing contests, it is the topic of New Year's.  What goes on for characters at New Year's I feel could be interesting to see. 

 

As for the banners...

Looking for anything dealing with staying warm during the cold winter...

 

Contest entries will be due on January 15th, 2006

 

And something new that is being done to the banners- ALL of them- not just the winners...  Will be featured here in the contest banner photo album.  So now everyone's work can be where everyone can see them.

 

We have lost yet another member in the past month.  Elven-Wolf Trinity who was a member on the Contest Award creator team and the past winner in the graphic contests has left us.  She says it was just a choice she felt she had to make.  We will miss her but her icons will still be offered there in her own folder in the avatar thread.  I will see to it ^_^.

 

Because of this- unless Marik 360 has a lot of time on his hands (and I am doubting that is so) We are probably no longer going to offer the award banners.  Unless someone else wishes to attempt to help with that.  The only real reward is getting them advertised in the information box on the site.  Thank you all for your participation and I hope that you all continue to do so. 

 

2 new Global Mods are still being looked at at this time as one that was offered the position graciously declined.  More news on that will be given when we know more.

Now for the bad news:

 

We are all sad to announce that our beloved Global Mod Diana had to leave us.  She was good at her job and was always more than willing to help when and where it was needed.  Nothing official is being released as to why she left as it is really no one's real concern.  We do want to let her know that she will be greatly missed and we wish her the best. 

 

That being said: Yes AFG, Rollo T, Dark Ryan, and I have begun talks of bringing in a new Global Mod.  With my life the way it has been and with AFG's classes about to get more difficult as she nears her final years of college, and the recent spamming attacks once again, RT and DR will be needing a little more assitance in keeping the place in line.  We are not releasing the names of the members we are looking at just yet.  We will contact them by PM first to get their thoughts on if they are interested and willing to take on the task.  Just a note- we are currently talking of adding 2 Global mods instead of just 1.  We are hoping this helps.

 

As for the tagboard/chatterbox:

 

Yes it had been pulled down.  I am not sure at this time if it will be put back up for a little while yet.  The recent attacks on the staff here have been vicious and uncalled for.  Yes the things said about me are bothersome- but the attacks on Blue and Diana were the most upsetting as they are no longer even with us and have no way to defend against such attacks. 

I wish to express my deepest apologies to everyone who was attacked and I hope that his words did not do any harm.  With the tagboard gone- he shan't be bothering us again.

As noted in the info box on the site- The December contest has been extended.  Entries are du on December 14th now instead of the 10th which was yesterday.  This change occured because while we have at least 5 entries in the graphics contest and the minimum of 3 entreis for the fanfiction contest- we have only 2 entries in the original fiction contest and one of those entries stands unfinished at this time.  We are hoping that the 4 additional days will help someone.I am attempting to not add my own work to the contest, but I can if I have to just to make it at least 3 contestants.

 

This brings me to the voting process which is changing.  It will still be by Private Message.  However...  Tha voting PM will look like this:

One other note:  I want to say it is such a beautiful thing to see so many reaching out to one of our own.  I know she appreciates it.  Hopefully one day she may be able to return, but it is understanding that she is not allowing herself to at this time.  We all wish the the best and  will continue to think of her.

 

Some of you may have noticed I have not been around as much or as often as I used to.  I still pop in to keep an eye on things are going.  To check on the contests and things like that- But I have pulled away in an effort to fix a few things in my life.  I am still around though so don't think it is a free for all. 

 

AFG, is kind of dealing with similar aspects as she finishes college before winter break.

 

During this time we are relying heavily on Diana, Rollo, and Dark Ryan to uphold thier positions and keep an eye out for us.  So what they say mostly will be what goes.  The rest of the team still has to remain in contact so if something happens AFG and I can be prepare and knowledigalbe for what happens.  Thank you for your time!

Some of you may have noticed that Blue has ... been deleted from the site.  This was not our choice but hers.  AFG and I have recently been in touch with her and have told her that if she needs to take time to herself, to do so and her place on the site will be saved.  If she chooses to return then her role as a mod will be returned to her.  Nothing has gone wrong on the site.  She just needs some time away.  If it does become more permanate then we will do what needs to be done. 

 

For right now though- I only ask for prayers as she faces the issues in her hands at this time. 

 

Don't bother to ask questions.  for 2 reasons

1: She either has not given a clear reason

2: The reasons do not wish to be shared at this time.

 

Just know she is doing okay at this time.  We will be keeping you in our thoughts Blue.  We hope one day you will feel it in your heart to return to us.  But we are behind you in any choice you make.

 

As for other news...

 

The contests are once again drawing to a close.  There are not many entries this time.  Just remember Saturday, Decemeber 10th is the day that all enteries are to be in for the contests.  THen the judging will begin. 

To make things easier wthere will be a small change in how the voting will be done.  This will be discussed later as the contest draws to a close.

December's contest was supposed to be announced yesterday.  I am sorry I spaced...

 

The writing contest deals with Winter and/or the December holidays of Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah (Please forgive me if it is spelled wrong), and any others there may be, as well as New Years Eve/Day.  This is very open with so many available topics so I am hoping that helps several in their attempt.

Set the background to whatever you wish but these words have to be there so we can include all holidays that way.  Banner sizes we are trying to go for Dimensions of 411 x 86 (or somewhere near that size...).  I hope this helps you all.

It seems no matter what we say or do, someone just will never be happy until he has insulted everyone he possibly can.  No one deserves these attacks and our best course of action now is to just try to forget the comments are there.  In order to do this, I will be deleting every comment being made by a former member who has decided to take it upon himself to flame the staff members of our site. 

 

In all honesty, if he was half the man he claimed he was, he would be able to walk away without a word.  Instead he has turned and shown us that he is not a man... but a insulant child with nothing better to do with his time but throw insults and flames toward myself and others. 

 

Frankly, I thought he was a better person than this.  I am trying to believe that it is just his anger and bitterness that is bringing these actions.  Part of me, however, knows that this side of him always existed.  I would turn this into a friends only site so only those on the friends list can view this- but we have several members without MSN who come here from time to time to catch up on updates and news...

 

I ask that no one responds to RKG's remarks from this post on...  I will see to it that everytime he posts from now on will be deleted. So say what you will in the post below but from now on he will be ignored.  For as long as possible.  As long as we have to. 

 

I am only sorry I hadn't seen this side of him and gotten rid of him sooner...

 

As for news- the contests have ended and our winners were announced.

Elven-Wolf Trinity's Thanksgiving banner is now featured on the site as the 1st place winner of the competition. 

GDG's Happy Food Day Banner came second

and Marik360's Wish you a Happy Thanksgiving came third.

A sweep of the members list has been done.  Members with 0 posts or who haven't logged in in 3 months time were deleted.  not banned, just deleted so they are welcome to come back and try again.  We do this periodically for the safety of our active members.  Lurkers just aren't something we can deal with, especially after all the issues we have had...

 

The voting for the contests have begun.  Sadly there haven't bee many votes for any of the enteries we have had and I feel bad since the members have put so much time and effort into their creations/writings.  So if you haven't taken a look at the enteries and sent a PM to AFG or myself , then please do so in order to keep the contests more than one-sided, not to mention help AFG and I pick a winner.  Votes will be accepted ntil the 23rd of this week.

 

Some may have noticed the nunmber of paged that have disappeared from the avatar thread.  I needed a better way to be more organized about the graphics used.  It was thought that having a special thread for each creator would actually be the best and so  have been slowly changing everything over the the new avatar/icon sub board in the General  category.

 

Talk has begun about possibly holding a convention in which we can all meet.  Several seem to be intested, but we all know that it will be a few more years down the road yet before this happens.  In the meantime we are tossing around money-making techniques for the moment.

 

On a side note- several of you by now know that I was attacked in my personal MSN Space.  A few of you came to my aide on the MSN space while other supported me on the site.  For both cases I am extremely grateful to you all.  Thank you!
